The city and region of Rome one is able to hear the independent Radio Ondarossa in Rome, Italy. This radio station is depends solely upon members dues and is not supported by any organisation or party. Radio Ondarossa is currently self-managed by about fifteen people, but around 200 people are working each week from the studios: broadcasting, speaking or playing music. This radio station came about as one voice of the autonomous, leftist movements in May of 1977 and has had close contact with these groups even though both the radio station and those movements have changed since then. The Centri Sociali (Social Centers), for instance, feminist groupings and migrant organisations, see the radio station as theirs and use it accordingly as their media platform.
