Radio Handicap - a project introduces itself, Part 2

Subject: Radio Handicap, using from its own studio at the Rehaklinik Lichtenau in Hessen, has been broadcasting at Rundfunk Meißner since 1998. In this program the producers introduce themselves and their radio. They describe their studio, which is set up so that people with different kinds of disabilities can work there; they tell how they cope with speech impediments and about their project: building a nationwide forum in the media for handicapped persons.

A history of German "Leitkultur"

In the spring of 2001 a group of extraterrestials were in Freiburg to collect much needed information about the German "Leitkultur" or Germany's "traditional (and thus) guiding, dominant culture". After having interview some Germans on the street about this, they put the responses together as a guide for their species, so that everyone will know how they will have to behave (and think).

50 marks for an Italian

A feature about the policy of the FRG in the 50s and 60s towards the so-called "Gastarbeiter" (i.e. "Guest Workers") from Italy. Topics include: recruitment and recruitment centers in Italy, camps for newly arrived workers as well as wages, work and daily life of the "Gastarbeiter", with original recordings and music hits from that time.

Subject: International communication with Esperanto - in the Esperanto magazine in Dreyeckland. In both programs on 21 March 2001 (International Day Against Racism) the campaign against Lufthansa - which had assumed the responsibility for transporting refugees, who were to be deported - is covered as well as a critical look at "State supported anti-fascism" which was very much a topic in autumn of 2000 when calls for "Zivilcourage" (i.e. "civil courage" or citizens showing bravery) were loud.

Imprisonment of migrant women

Subject: In January of 2001 in Spain there began a protest against the "Ley de Extranjería" (i.e "Law of Foreigners' Rights"?). Thousands of migrants locked themselves into churches and went on a hunger strike. The specific struggle of migrant woman was added to this protest when women locked themselves into the Church of St. Paul (Sant Pau).
